Forty-three years of history, a restaurant that has become a favourite of locals and visitors to Alghero alike – the Rafel is a longstanding local institution that has been a beloved part of the summer of entire generations in this wonderful corner of Sardinia!
In 2021, the renowned restaurant on Alghero’s beach is entering a new chapter: fully renovated, it is being re-born under new ownership with a highly green-oriented philosophy. It is a vision of sustainable, circular, contemporary architecture, with a steadfast commitment to recyclable and reusable materials. The use of concrete has been limited to the foundations only, and rather than resting directly on the beach, the restaurant is now sited on a platform raised above the surface of the sandy shore.
A structure has thus been created that appears to float on the shore, caressing the beach but not impinging on it!
The fresh produce caught in the waters off Alghero or reared in the local inland area is imbued with a new sense of elegance in the hands of our Chef Giuseppe Marongiu, who consistently comes up with new takes on the local traditions!
Research, experimentation, attention to detail: every dish on our menu, from the antipasto to the desserts, is born here.
